In this study, we present evidence for the critical role of proteinase-3 (PR3) in the
proliferation of myeloid cells via the proteolytic regulation of the cyclin-dependent kinase
inhibitor p21 waf1. Expression of recombinant PR3 in rat (RBL) or human (HMC1) mast cell
lines increased bromodeoxyuridine incorporation and CDK2 activity compared with RBL
